Rusty tools – Dealing with rust. One of the many irritations on board. Tools have gone rusty as I've been using them in the water. The pliers do not work any more. Incidentally, the spray can of WD40 which is supposed to prevent rust, has also rusted. Go figure that one out.
Compass – Got the boat back on course and my self in better spirits. Bearing back on 270 degrees after the past few days on 180 degrees.
GPS – The numbers on the trip computer change mighty slowly. Distance to next: 1487 Nautical miles. Speed: 1.5 knots. I check the GPS now just once a day, at 21.00 hrs when I write up the ships log. I maintain course mostly by navigating by the sun and stars, to escape the monotony of looking at the GPS.
WOULD APPRECIATE NO MESSAGES OR CALLS ON THE SATELLITE PHONE. THE LINE IS BEING KEPT OPEN FOR EMERGENCY USE UNTIL THE LEAK IS FIXED.
